Summer Internship Policy
Miller Poultry periodically provides internship and co-operative education opportunities for students as a part of academic curriculum requirements, and in an effort to mentor, train and identify potential future leaders and managers for the company and the Poultry industry.
Miller Poultry is committed to building relationships with colleges and universities and other schools who are training future leaders and managers, and to providing job opportunities to students through internships and other educational settings.
The program also helps in recruitment and retention strategies and efforts to build a strong and viable company for the future that will continue to be able to serve our customers.
Internship opportunities may be available for students interested in:
- Mill Management
- Hatchery Management
- Production and Processing Management
- Flock Management
- Finance and Administration
- Plant and Facilities Management
Co-operative education opportunities may also be available in Quality Assurance and office clerical assistance.
Internships are typically of a 6 to 12 week duration, can occur during any semester of study if there is an academic component, and are temporary in nature.
Interns are compensated at the flat rate of $10.00 per hour.
Housing is not provided, but the company will assist potential interns in identifying housing options.
Eligibility for college internship participation is based on the following:
- Students who are Sophomore to Senior level and who are in good standing who have demonstrated or expressed an interest in agricultural or animal sciences.
- Completed a number of relevant courses such as: agriculture, business administration and finance, and/or poultry and/or feed science, etc.
- Accumulate GPA of a “B” or higher.
- Successful interview and acceptance by Human Resources and the relevant company manager.
Eligibility for High School co-operative education participation is based on the following:
- Recommended by High School work study program supervisor
- In good academic standing.
- Successful interview and acceptance by Human Resources and the relevant company manager.
Interns and co-operative education students are assigned a company mentor who meets with them regularly. The assigned mentor is not necessarily their supervising manager.
